Guide to Books, Magazines,
Newspapers, and Short Stories on the Internet: Browse large collections
of short stories, speeches, and other full text documents available for free
on the Internet.
Project Gutenberg
for thousands of copyright free electronic texts. The collection includes
works of fiction and nonfiction. Search for the work by author, title, subject
or notes. Once located, download (via ftp) the entire work to your computer
in text or zip formats.
Searching for Articles
Visit the library's list of Online databases by title, or Online databases by subject. If you are currently enrolled at any of the nhmccd campuses, and have a valid library card, you can get access to our databases from home.
For Students
Items on Reserve are located at the Circulation Desk. These

To borrow materials, you must present a library card. Circulation times vary , but most items circulate in-house for two hours.
For Faculty
Montgomery College faculty may download the Faculty
Reserve Request Form from the schools web server. (You will need Microsoft
Word). Please contact the Montgomery
Helpdesk if you do not have this software.
Books and videos not available at the Montgomery College
Library may be requested via Intra Campus Loan from another NHMCCD
library. Search for the record in the online card catalog. Select the "Request"
button. Enter the barcode number from your yellow NHMCCD library card and
choose the location to which you'd like the item sent. It should arrive within
two to five days, at which time you will receive a phone call. Holds from
the Montgomery County Public Library can also be placed this way, but it may
be quicker for you to go there and check it out.
Articles from journals or magazines may be available from one of the online databases, ask a reference librarian for assistance. Otherwise, fill out a Periodical Request Form to request a copy from one of the NHMCCD libraries. Typical turnaround time is 3 days. There is no charge for this service.
Books or articles not available at any of the NHMCCD libraries may be requested via Interlibrary Loan. These requests are handled by the District office. You will be notified by phone when the material is received.
Interlibrary Loan is a service for NHMCCD students, staff, and faculty. There is generally no charge for this service.
Montgomery County residents should ask at their local library about interlibrary loan service.
